Last Saturday I umpired at Oughtibridge for the first time since the well-chronicled floods of 2008. What a joy it was. The temperatures were some of the highest I’ve encountered in my 16 years as an umpire and what a relief to be able to take a shower in the umpires own shower room after the game. I am aware of the many problems the club have encountered in getting the new pavilion up and running, however it has been worth the wait. The ground was in excellent condition, a real feather in the cap for Roger. I feel the ground is now ready to stage either a Presidents Cup Final or a representative match once some of the temporary out buildings have been removed. As long as you can cope with the parking you should be fine. I will recommend this to the League’s Cricket Committee who are responsible for selecting the grounds.
Well done to one and all and the best of luck for the rest of the season............apart from at Phoenix tomorrow.
